Trash the Dress, Fearless Bridal or maybe just a romantic date night....

This Blog post is very overdue! Over the summer I had the awesome experience of photographing a "Trash the Dress" session... what is Trash the Dress you ask?
Wikipedia :  Trash the dress, also known as fearless bridal or rock the frock, is a style of wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of place. It is generally shot in the style of fashion and glamour photography.  Usually brides decide to have pictures taken on a beach, but other locations include city streets, rooftops, garbage dumps, fields, and abandoned buildings.
 Got it?  Yay!
OK  to be perfectly honest I wasn't hired,  I asked this very beautiful girl I knew and her very easy going husband if they wouldn't mind having their pictures taken in their wedding attire, being romantic and a little daringly sexy with each other (I'm sure they didn't mind that part) amongst an army of red ants, the walls of a rusty old machine shop, an abandoned old church yard and, oh yeah, icy cold creek water to name only a few locations!  Ooooooo I had so much fun and they were so great, I can totally understand why this has become such a popular style of photography.
Some where along the way during this session I got an overwhelming sense that a photography session like this does not have to be about trashing the dress - you don't actually have to "trash" the dress!! - It is in more ways than one about the couple. The bride feeling extra beautiful again in her dress that she wore 1 year ago 2, 3 or maybe even 10 years ago.  The groom seeing his girl - his wife, lover, friend, mother to his children - as he did that first time on their wedding day and as he pulls her into his arms, kissing her again and again,  because I've asked him to :),  I watch them become ONE again, oblivious to me for the moment, oblivious for the moment, to the external forces of everyday life that test their love.  She is BEAUTIFUL and he is humbled and they are fearlessly in LOVE ♥.   I like the term "Fearless Bridal" the best... unless someone can think of a better name!
