Carly's Session

I had the pleasure of meeting Carly and her mom today!  Carly came into the studio for a new Headshot.  After taking a few images and looking over them on the computer Carly's mom made the comment that this would maybe be the new Grad photo too - the ones from the school didn't turn out so well and I'm not going to say too much more on that ... ok maybe just a little more... School Grad photos are more about QUANTITY rather than QUALITY!  100 students or more will sit for the photographer in a day.  This photographer has a method or pre-determined posing structure geared toward the average student/person which may work for most of the students but what happens when the student doesn't fit into the pre-determined posing structure?  Cap and Gown pics are ok for the school year book but this is the turning point in a teenagers life and who wants to remember what they looked like in a cap and gown?
This is Carly -  being strong, being beautiful and being unique!

.... It pleases me very much to hear that my studio is wheel chair friendly! - Thanks Carly

The oh so lovely Katelyn

Now that the weather is warm and the sun is shinning and the spring flowers are out -  ok so this is stretching a bit! -  I have been scouting new locations for photo sessions.  This was a great location and I couldn't have asked for better lighting or a more lovely model!  Here are some of my favourites from this "Seniors" session -  and no I don't mean elderly ;)

Boys, hockey and the junk yard!

In the last few weeks Sam has been helping me scout new locations to photograph in.  He is a great helper because he really doesn't listen to me at all and just does his own thing - I get what I get with him!  He is a wiggly boy, all over the place especially when he has to go pee which in most cases causes him to be wiggly, so I am finding out.  Montreal Canadians is his Dad's favorite hockey team which is why the jersey!  I figure this is a good time to post some of these photos hopefully to send positive energy to those Habs!

It's Bar/Bat Mitzvah Time!

According to Jewish law, when Jewish children reach the 13 years for boys and 12 for girls they become responsible for their actions, and "become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah" (English: Son (Bar) or Daughter (Bat) of the commandments) - This is from Wikipedia.  I've been photographing Bar/Bat Mitzvahs for a few years now and I've really come to enjoy them partly because I've come to know so many of the families and the kids, scratch that out, YOUNG ADULTS and they are GREAT!   This is such an amazing time for these YAs that it is a real honor for me to be part of it. That and I'm not so up-tight of a photographer now - just my own personal insecurities :).  So here are a few images of Jenna's Bat Mitzvah  photographed on the weekend.  Jenna is daughter number two and just as much fun was had at this party as was had at her big sister Marlee's!   Mazal Tov Jenna - enjoy these sneak peeks ♥

LOVE her cake!

Something new in the Studio!

Well I've been waiting for this for a few months maybe even longer and it has finally arrived and I finally found the time to organize a photo session with my two kids to try it out! It is my new 5 foot studio light umbrella - it is actually called a Parabolic Light Modifier, but a really big umbrella is what my son calls it. I had pre-planned this session with Samuel (my son who is 5) right down to what he was going to wear to how he was going to pose with Anna (his sister my daughter who is 3) Come to think of it I only mentioned that I wanted to do a session with him and Anna and he is the one who started formulating the details. Those who know my husband know exactly where Samuel gets this from! Anyway Samuel was very keen on the wardrobe choice and seemed to know exactly what and how he was going to pose with Anna. I took a few... okay a lot of shots with the two of them and then Anna alone as she was very "into" her photo session and Samuel was loosing interest fast. A few more shots of them together and then Samuel went and got the jellybeans and we wrapped it up with more shots of just Anna while Samuel made sure she was "rewarded" for each frame with a jellybean! It was fun - a little stressful at times - some wardrobe malfunctions ;) and the gourmet jellybeans were a hit, as they ALWAYS are even for the photographer. I LOVE the results! The newest piece of equipment in the studio is AMAZING with the best quality of light anyone could ask for in a studio light. I can't wait to try it on some client sessions!!! Ooooh what fun :)

Rowan

I love photographing newborns, now put a sibling in the picture and you never know really what you are going to get! Rowan's big brother Wesley wasn't as cooperative as we would have liked ... which was GREAT because seriously, I don't think I could have planned a better session with the two of them!

Megan Faith

This little "Cutie-Pie" was one of my first sessions from the February Newborn Month promotion. Although a little older than the ideal newborn age of 1-2 weeks old she certainly was the perfect little baby. She has such beautiful coloring it was hard to make any of her images into black and white so i didn't ;) Her 3 older brothers are going to have a great time with their new little sister. This hasn't been an easy month for this family, especially mom, but they glow in their faith and knowledge that they are truly blessed ♥
